The First ST-EMBEST Embedded Electronics Design Competition Opened

The well-know semiconductor supplier STMicroelectronics and Embest jointly sponsor 2006 ST-EMBEST Embedded Electronics Design Competition in China. The basic aim of this competition is to provide engineers from diverse subfields and ARM fanciers a competing and study chance on embedded solution designs and to further enhance the whole nation technical lever and construct a flourishing opensource technological exchanging platform. The competition has also got great support from ARM China, China Microcomputer Society Embedded System Branch Association and Beihang University (BUAA) Publishing Company. The participated works are mainly based on STR7 and STR9 microcontrollers from STMicroelectronics. Embest will provide development tools for free for the competition. The competition welcome all enterprises' software or hardware engineers engaged in embedded industry, graduate students or undergraduate students majored in electronics, computer and communication and individuals who are interested in ARM development to take part in. The activity will be carried through in team with 1 or 5 person freely organized in a group. In order to encourage participants from different levers and background, the competition has two group types: Rudimental Group based on STR7 design and Career Group based on STR9 design.
To attract more ARM fanciers to join in the competition, the Organizing committee has prepared big award for participants and the competition is launched with the innovative idea “We provide platform, you do the design!” This breaks though the limitation of traditional competitions and makes more ARM fanciers join in the competition to learn, exercise and improve by themselves.
The competition is scheduled to four phases: registration, entries collection and net voting, works defense and review, result announcement and award. The formal registration started from Sep.27, 2006, the whole competition is anticipated to last for 7 months and the result will be published on May 2007.
Embest is mainly in charge of the organization work of this competition. Embest is a professional company engaged in development and manufacture of ARM development tools along with complete and perfect technical support service.
